my appologies, not getting round to blooging is turning out to be a bad habit, rather like smoking.

hmm, not sure where that came from, oh well its early.

well what can I say about super chris read, we all knew banger could bat, and hes going to get alot of runs this winter btw, but a good innings by read helped save the day against bangladesh A side. Batty played well as well, bowling and batting. Collingwood batted for nothing getting out for a duck, but I reckon we need him to strenthern the batting line up, so here is my line up in comparrison to the selectors XI

TBH they are probably right with clarke, and you have to remember that this is the team I would of picked ot the team I thought they yould pick. I just thought that after collingwoods injuries it would be nice to give him a go in the test side, but rikki clarke out perfomed him, which wanst really that hard was it? and so therefore was probably the fiarest choice

Oh yeah, the actuall game, I remember that one, and guess what, its raining, its probaly drier back home here, but only just I guess.

I did get up for the start, which after a few 6:30 starts weren't easy but I managed it. Hoggard and harmisson both looking like causing trouble, hoggard going close to the off stump in the third over, and harmisson had one drop just short in the second, but he did concede a run(shock horror!) in the 4th b4 it started to rain.

Finnally I will leave ou with what I view to be our first choices for the windies tour next spring.

the website updated, nass is out, I think it would be more live coverage if it updated every wicket, at least then I am garenteed updayes every 15 minutes or so. what i happening? we are being thrashed by bangladesh A side, reckon their first team might get a debut test win. well we are three down and collingwood batting n butchers place it means clarke next in at 6(or so I reckon) and then read at 7, batty 8 giles 9 harmison 10 hoggard 11, but then again johnson might get a bat, but I doubt it, i reckon he is playing saggers role from the other game if you get what I mean

well I have been up since a quarter to five and TBH I am bored.

I have been floating around TMS message boards for a while now and still the beeb are refusing to offer anyexplanantion on why they couldnt be arsed(lets face it, thats the only reason) to go to bangladesh, and they still havent been bothered to confirm that no one can be bothered with the tour to sri lanka. gits. It appears that talksport only have rights to the windies series, and no one at all could be bothered with the tours to bangladesh or sri lanka, what a complete screw up. and lets face it talksport aint gonna be that good, no blowers&co to listen to, but then again cricket without them aint that good :( Talksport will just use it to pass the time I would imagine

Cant be arsed to keep up with the aussie zimbabwe game either, just seems like a farce really. And I say that with no disrepect to zimbabwe(the cricket team that is) as the ahses tour was a farce last year, I imagine it would of been quite boring for the neutral to watch a random selection of 11 semi fit over weight sun burnt english men throw a ball around the park for 7 or so hours a day and then get bowled out in unspectacular fasion.

talking of boring to the neutral, the kiwis have began the 2nd day against india, fun and games there, 1 wicket and about 3 runs, oh no, less than that, an over, I am sure it is pleasant viewing for your average new zealand supported, but t doesnt do anything for me.

Oh and arent we strutting our stuff against bangladesh A, having been hit around the ground by someone who has probably had to get a note from his mum to be alowed time off school to play, vaughan got 1 and collingwood got bugger all, and we were at one point 3-2, I have heard of footy match scores looking like cricket scores, but the other way around is just silly. Collingwoods decision to not bother scoring any will have thrown the selectors, cause I reckon that if we dont play collingwood our batting line up will have about 3 (4 if harmison doesnt play) no8's and no 6 or 7. If that is the case, what happens when banger prods the bat forward edging to slip, vaughan gets out now bugger all again and butch lobs one to point, we are about 10-3, nass and thorpe in, you look to the balacony, and who do you see padded up, but chris read. I am not having ago at read, but he simply aint good enough to bat at 6, especially if a situation like that come about.

Anyway, final but of cricket action at the moment, is SA vs. pakistan, IMHO that is the best thing for me to watch at the moment. With no live coverage of england bangladesh a(the closest I can find is a scorecard on the beeb, which updates about as often as I have a birthday) and wih no radio anywhere to be found(the aussie radio link is as dead as a dodo for me) then this is certainly the best way to spend the early hours of a friday morning after an enthralling ODI series in which SA came back from the dead I am looking forward to a good test series.

Got to go now, I think the bbc site may be ready for an update, just tiem to get the birthday candles...

well I am still trapped by this custom known as work, but I am slowly escaping from it, should be back to normal blogging frequency by the weekend.

Anyway, just quickly here to share my views on englands probale line up in the first test. I reckon that there is 9 players who are garenteed a place in the starting line up, being: vaughan, banger, butch, nass, thorpe, read, giles, harmisson and hoggard. Then you have four or five players competing for the other two places, those being collingwood, saggers, clarke, johnson(not sure abou him, but as he is playing today he cant be far away) and batty.

I reckon the two will be batty, as on the final day against bangladesh presidents xi(or xii depending on how you look at it) would suggest the dhaka pitch is ok for 2 spinners. The second I reckon should be collingwood, but that will rely on a good performence over the next few days against bangladesh's A side, he has been given his chance to proove he is a better pick than saggers(who i reckon is his main rival for a place) or even rikki clarke(who is probably 3rd in line) so I hope he takes it.

So here is my probably line up for the first test:

I now people have said that he aint good enough for number 7, but I reckon with freddie out then he is the obvious player to bat at 7, afterall would you want saggers or giles there. The only other option would be clarke to bat there, but then you would probably loose a bowler, and with only 3 bowlers(giles, hoggard and harmisson) plus the likes of collingwood and clarke(vaughan and butcher also) then I reckon we would struggle.

Against bangladesh he maybe ok at 7, but once freddie is back and for the games in sri lanka(and then next year in the west indies) then he should bat at 8, freddie at 7, giles at 9 and then probably harmisson and anderson(tough call to leave hoggard out, maybe we could survive without harmissons pace, I just don't know, but I do know that jimmy has a big future and we need him in the side).

well, firstly my appologies, I have been very neglectful of my duties recently, but I have a reason, I stupidly agreed to be introduced to a strange custom around here known as "work" and now they wont let me stop doing it, oh well :(

well what an innings by hayden it was, I know people are going to say that well he did it against zimbabwe and they're crap, but two things,
one: they are better than bangladesh :p
two: I have been wisely informed that when lara hit his 375 it was against a poor england bowling line up from the early 90's. I was informed as it was a bit before my memory kicked in and realised just hwat its purpose was. Well I say informed, I mean rammed into my brain repeatadly by those who really have a problem witht aht england bowling line up, maybe they have good reason, I dont know, was too young to remember back then, perhaps some comments would be good?

erm what else, oh yes nearly forgot, australia actually were playing in a match, not just an extended nets sesion, and they won, by an innings plus runs as it always looked like they would.

Kiwis batted well to save the test against india, and there I was thinking they would loose by over an innings, I was wrong I underestimated the power of the kiwi lower order. Fair play to them.

Oh I have just found something that may intrest you ppl out there, englands barmy army are going to the rugby world cup! wohoo, our message is spreadig to other sports.

Talking of my beloved england (thats the cricket team, not the queen country or government as they are all screwed up) looks like we are having fun in bangladesh, despite everyone apart from banger forgetting how to bat, as shreck(hoggard) has done us pround, getting six wickets, well played squire. thorpe and clarke have opened, selctors obviously want alook at their batting before we face the might of bangladesh A side.

On a final note, wish me luck today, have to do my french coursework, wanted to talk about the barmy army, but I am not sure I could explain properly what that is in english, and deffinatly not in french, oh well, will have to think of omething respectable to say in french pretty soon.

well overall another improved performence, woke again at four(although unfortunatly with the aid of a loud beeping in my right ear from my alarm clock), but put the good old live coverage of ausie zimbabwe on only to find that once again steve waugh has been denied his first 100 at the waca, shame that as I am ot convinced the aussies will bat twice.

snoozing was of a reduced rate, and a quick dose of crackers and fanta soon had me down here ready for the start of the third days play in ahmedabad.
Yesterday there dravid finally got out for 222, a magnificent innings in my view, a classic one from him. ganguly made 100, which I have to confess that I know nothing about, but khan then but it what looked to have been a briliant spell taking 3-16 off 7 overs and the other new boy, balaji didnt do too badly didnt take a wicket but only went for 9 off his first five overs in test cricket, but as I speak astle has been whacking him around last over for about 12 i think.

matty hayden sounds to be having fun in perth 250+ looks to be a good bet for the biggest score of the winter(oct-march inclusve in my view) unless ( and that was a hopeful unless) banger or vaughan wallop some past bangladesh but that isnt looking too likely judging by bangladesh's last performence against pakistan, but we can hope. looks like there might be a couple of innings defeats in the first few tests of the winter, but then again astle looks to be getting his arse in geer for the kiwis and styris aint looking too bad either, think harbhajan will come on soon there.

oh and is it me or do they like day nighters in pakistan? apparently theres one today which means that 3 out of 4 games so far have been day nighters. bugger i will be at school. On the plus note "super" mohammad sami is in the squad.

Finally an update of imps performence enhancing drugs, have moved on to very strong coffee today, it might taste like tar freshly scraped from the road outside, but it dont half keep you awake.

morning

well overall this mornings performence has been inconsitant but there have been good points as well as bad ones.

It started well, I awoke(although not fully) without the aid of my alarm which is a first for the four aclock time, so I was pleased there. But I then made my mistake I swithced on the live updates on the zimbabwe australia game on teletext(it was much too cold to come down here) but I failed to drink my much needed fanta and open up the ritz crackers, and the lack of nourishment and the incredibly dead "live" updates caused me to snooze (on and off) all the way till five to five, but I was downstairs at five and only missed the first over of the india new zealand game as my computer booted up(yup its that slow). So that was a plus point

overall not too bad I suppose

an update on sami, I've asked around, and learnt bugger all, I can only assume he is being rested for a potentially series winning game tommorow.

Dravid batted superbly yesterday, the first session when he and chopra were at the crease was superb, the kiwi bowlers were bowling brilliantly on what is apparently a good batting pitch, but the batsmen kept their patience and held in there. Admittadly a war of patience is not what I needed when suffering from sleep deprivation (it ends to make me a bit dopey) but it was very well played and when dravid got a bad ball it rarely escaped being perfectly hit over the boundary ropes, which is what he appeared to do when I was forced away from my "portal to the world of cricket" and had to go to the not so pleasant world of school, so well played to him

A final note on one of the indian debutants, chopra, batted with good temprement, and appeared to have a lot of skill locked away in the locker, but he never looked confident against the spin of vettori, always looking to block, on a pitch which was giving little turn and dravid was playing alot of shots, and to be honest I wasn't supprised it was vettori who got him in the end, but 42 on test debut is a nice score, so well played to him.
He joins the likes of dravid, sami and samit patel as being in a group of players who are favourite players of the cricketing imp.

good morning ppl, a bit fucked off really. I woke up at four in the morning in preperation for the bagladesh game as I do(only 3 more full dyas now till my beloved england start playing again) and I managed 40 odd minutes without falling asleep( a p.b.) but then I snoozed till five which was dissapointing. But anyway was up at five and I thought that I still had 30 minutes till the india kiwi game started so I stayed in bed with an old packet of biscuits and some out of date fanta(that incidently made me feel very ill), so I come downstairs and boot up the computer as I do to get the live text commentry up and I descover to my dispair that it actually started half an hour ago (although luckily not an hour and a half ago as the website said). FUCK.

Anyway moving on, may I just say that I am shocked and appalled at the fact that cricketing imps favourite player didnt play yesterday. "super" mohammad sami has been dropped(I dont think hes injured) from the pakistan one day side and is apparently no longer better than umar "couldnt hit a cows arse with a frying pan" gul, I am disgusted at this apparent injustice

Erm final word, I forgot to tell you about yet another classic assembley from my deputy head, he exceeded his usual quality by reaching about 20 on the boredom scale which usually only measures 1-10(10 being most boring).
He was trying to be funny(notice the emphasis on trying?), infact the only bit that even made me smile was when he actually dscribed it as a "humorous" story, oh well atleast he tried, I prefer him anyday to our weekly quarter an hour infront of the firing squad that is our headmaster.

well Ihave been awake on and off since fur in the morning which was about two hours ago, but am now sipping away at a pint of hot tea so the caffine should kick in. Freddie has become the second casulty of our tour so far and we havnt even played a single session yet tut tut. He's been replaced by saggers(whup-de-do) just to keep up with the selectors new youth policy (Youth policy my arse, if that was in place then I should of been closer to a call up than him).

Oh well maybe it aint that good but he seems to be doing quite well I reckon

On a final note I had an interview on my ICT coursework today, riveting as always, basicly 10 minutes listening to my teacher telling me how great he is, how we should do this and that, and how we should all become "mini-hims" whilst I sit up grimly nodding away like one of those nodding dogs in the back of cars.

Oh well should post tomorow(same day in america?) at about 5:30 england time(or 8:30 cricketing imp time, I am tomorow fully adjusting to winter time of getting up at 4 in the morning england time) whilst I am watching live text comentry on the 3rd ODI.

oops almost gone a week without posting-sorry.

Anyway sod all happening in the world of cricket really apart from the continued row over if england are going to zimbabwe next winter or not. The government have got envolved recently trying to have their own litle say int he argument but it appears to have died down for a few months anyway. One thing though havent all the tet nations signed an agreement with the ICC regarding the test schedule for the next so many years, I think it said that all the teams have to play eachother they can change the dates and venues but they cant let it interfere with other tours ahgainst other teams. Which is why I presume there was such and effort to get the South african tour of pakistan to go ahead, as even offers of a neutral venue were put forward. I might be wrong but I am pretty sure that there is some sort of agreement going on with the test sides and the ICC, seem tto remember reading about it near the test schedule in this years wisden I think.

Anyway another good thing, we almost have the first fully com[petitive cricket game of the winter upon us. The endless presidents XI games have been happening for some while now but tomorow pakistan play south africa in the first ODI, I'm just pissed off that I have bloody school, oh well atleast the next game is in the weekend.

On a final note I have almost completed my first adjustment to my sleeping pattern for the winters tour, am now waking up at 5 in the morning my time, only an hour away from my target time of 4 for the bangladesh tour, and with the first test not till the 21st I think I have plenty of time to get that extra hour earlier.

Will post on sunday as am busy on weekend.

hmm, another day, another post forgotten, oh well.

Well a few bits fo news in the world of cricket recentyl that I fell I should put on here.

The first is that south africa have agreed to the new terms of pakistans tour and it is set to go ahead. Wohhooo more cricket :D

another is that jimmy anderson isnt fit enough(he has been told he is not fit enough) for the bangladesh tests, so there is some debate over his replacement, my ideal pick would be kirltey but the selectors are apparently looking at the likes of kabir ali and a few others. Also I have heard martin bicknells name mentioned one too many times(i.e. once) so I aint happy.

Sitting here watching livescores of new zealand against india's president XI, but apprently ot is raining there but the last inspection was due about an hour ago so don't know whats happening there. Was also wathing the non changing socre of india emerging team vs sri lanka's emerging team but that soon disappeared so I guess it has finished for the day. Oh well.

Will post again later today(is 6:20 in the morning here in england) when I have thought of the other thing I was going to say, and when I am back from work...

Well, firstly appolgies havent posted for a few days now, but then again theres been sod all happening in my life recently so there wouldnt have been much to talk about anyway, but then that wouldnt have meant there would of been anything different from all my other posts, as nothing ver happens in my life-I am a boring git, if I can admit then I am sure you already have.

Had family round a few days ago which was ok I suppose, and now I have a cold, but I'm ok, ever noticed how "ok" the world is, not great not so bad just ok, suppose thats what we get for living in western countries, we should be happy for our ok lives I suppose.

Another year assembly spent having a go at our year again, teacher gave us some bullshit story about going on holday with a friend(well thats wrong for a start-he has no friends), but the end result was that apparently we swear to much, funny how this wasnt a problem till Grimble started moaning about it-bullshit is what I say to them.

Anyway, might get up at 4 in the morning tommorow to watch a score box some tour match going on somewhere, as it will help me in my attempt to adjust my sleping patterns so that I get up at four in the morning hwilst England are playing in Bangladesh this winter so I can listen in to tms on radio 4, if they are covering the tour that is, I am only manging six in the mrning at the moment so I could be struggling to reach the magic four mark.

ECB's website seems to be down at the moment, all I get is "there was an error processing this directive" and a half arsed attempt at opening the page, there wasnt an error whilst the directive was being processed, the erroe is that the directive just want processed, guess I will have to try again tommorow :(

Finishing off the week with another english lesson, they seem to come round all to quickly, oh well, guess thats life.

yup another exciting day I don't think, mondays are deffinatly the worst, and starting off with english is hardly a great way to start the week.
Anyway watched the end of the tennis at lunch time and team GB-Canada are officially out of the world group, shame that, means we are now effectivly ranked below countries like belarus(no disrespet intended to any belarussians(spelling?) out there) which is a bit dissapointing really.

Good news on the cricket diplomatic front, the south afican board are reviewing the new tour schedule presented to to them by the pakistani cricket board. Hope it goes ahead as I reckon it may start b4 the aussies (host?) zimbabwe so I don't have to suffer without cricket for too long.

Well day one of a week with school and no day-time tv has been passed ok I suppose, 4 left. Incidently will leave you with an observation, in any one week if you watch say 3 quiz shows everyday I have discovered at least one question will be repeated which leads me to believe that if I just spend the next 10 years watching quiz shows I can make my fortune by then entering them as I will have heard all the questions by then anyway.

well I'm back.
Nice days cricket on saturday. Had the pleasure of watching stuart"doesnt play unless warnie's banned" MacGil, which was good, except he turned up 15 minutes late, obviously still suffering from the effects of a big night before. The poor 12th man had obviously thought he might get a day of fielding practice but was soon given his marching orders once warnies understudy turned up. He didn't get muchg rest though, about five minutes after being sent back to watch he was called out to deliver some drinks to franks who was on the boundary near the fox road stand. Anyway he was happy to carry out his duty, the first time anyway and jogged out with drinks and then jogged back in. However he was called upon again about 2 minutes later for a towl I think, and then another five minutes later to bring a jumper out I think, and he suffered at the hands of franks whenever he was not on the pitch. Lets just have a comparison of his behaviour:
1st call:ran out happily
3rd call:walked slowly
5th call walked out staring at the ground cursing and swearing and dint even bother returning to the dressing room.

Lazy bugger franks is, left a trail of devistation of discarded towels and bottles around the boundary, which was where he always was when not fielding, strange that, but he didnt half bowl well after lunch, was obviously all those drinks he was being brought out all the time.

Hogg hit a very good 50 btw, one to look after as he can bowl apparently as well, but was undone byMacGil who bowled him after he had reached 50 in no time including 11 fours. Also I was impressed by patels bowling, and he can bat as well, I reckon if we develop him ennough he will solve our spin problems, very impressed.

Highlight of the day outside of cricket was macgil sharing his thoughts onhis fielding, after a misguided throw sent the bowler scuttling after the ball he could be heard all around the ground saying "shit" in his strong australian accent which was returned with several hundred people nodding their heads in agreement and saying "yup thats about right mate".

Journey went well, left the house at quarter to eight and got into nottingham at half nine and was at the ground by 10. But the best bit of the morning was the completly uninterupted sun which pleased both me and me dad, if you want a nasty sight at half ten in the morning then you should try spotting my dad with no shirt on sunning his already orange body and only wearing his best before 1978 shorts, its not necesarily something you need to see that early on a saturday morning, and may well have contributed to macgils late arrival.

Anyway for those of you who have the misfortune of having read this to the end thanks, but I am sure you will me happy to know that my daily(well almost dailly) twaddle posting is over,

well its confirmed, I will be making my first trip to a cricket match tomorow, at trent bridge, a two hour journey starting at eight in the morning will test my match fitness, only time will tell. But on a positive note the sun will contiue to battle against the clouds and be interupted rather than completly covered

Guess by now henman has lost his match was a set down when I fell asleep and then two down when I woke up, oh well nothing new there, guess we will have to rely on our canadian import greg.
Back to cricket anyway, earlier today I thought that Nottinghams inability to bat had saved me from deciding if I am going to the final day of the season tommorow, they were dropping like flies unitl the england u-19 captain Patel arrived on the scene and last time I looked he was doing ok, evidently it is only the senior england captaincy which causes our top batsmen to loose the ability to bat well...

Hardly an exciting day was it? Apart from sussex winning the county championships nothing really to report, guess they will be much too hung over to compete properly today.

Oh well, I wander what else the government is holding from me, perhaps we are actually living on the moon, or maybe we are ruled by giant guinea pigs (heard about the discovery?), even if we are though we will be quite safe in assuming the world we live in to be completly as we believe it to be, that is until we turn on to some cheap quiz show that reveals to us that nothing is as it seems.
Woried now? Dont worry I will be tuning in next week to see if my giant rodent theory is true. I'll keep you posted

Anyway back to the reality of my latest obsession, cricket. My planned trip to nottingham (I live around two hours away) has been thrown into doubt because of the ever changing forcast, on wednesday it said that saturday would be consisting of "interupted sun" whatever the hell that means, maybe it is going to try and tell me something but it will be continuously interupted by mobile fones or something? but nayway that was the forcast on wednesday, a day later the people(or giant guinea pigs, depending on your point of view) at the forcasting place had decided that the was not even going to try and get its message accross and was infact be replaced by clouds. Yet today I find the sun has actually decided to return but will no doubt be interupted apparently. Who knows what tommorow may bring.

Perhaps another day of [ boring commentator man] followed by watching Britain loose at tennis will settle my mind.

Well an interesting day wasnt it yesterday, yes? Well you had a more exciting one than Imp then.
Spent a day listening to possibly the most boring man on radio, commentating on surrey vs. essex, I don't know, maybe he is always like that, but he seemed to give the impression that he was talking to himself, and was not infact expecting anyone to listen such was his monotone monotonous moronic voice he was using.
